Negative hints in Style
When the model keeps adding something you don’t want, add a short exclusion in the Style field. Combine with instrumental mode (or equivalent) in the UI when available—two constraints beat one.
Common patterns
Prefix and examples
Many users prefix with --no … (style varies; match how you write the rest of Style):
When to use
Instrumental bleed, clutter, and drift
- Instrumental: UI instrumental +
--no vocalsif vocals still bleed. - Arrangement clutter: Remove one layer at a time (“--no brass”) instead of five negatives at once.
- Genre drift: Reinforce what you do want in the Genre hub—negatives alone rarely define a track.
Limits
Finite Style space
Style length is finite—see Field limits. Prioritize positive description, then one or two negatives.

Short exclusions like
--no vocals or --no drums to steer away from sounds.Do exclusions always work?
Models may ignore vague negatives—pair with positive hearable words.
Where do instrumental settings fit?
Use UI instrumental mode plus Style hints—see Troubleshooting.
