Write exclusions you can listen for
A Suno Exclude list works best when each item names an audible trait. Terms such as crowd chants, distorted guitars, long intro or heavy reverb give you something concrete to check in the result. Broad complaints such as “bad mix” do not identify the sound that should change.
A simple test sequence
- Save the Style prompt, lyrics and other settings used for the baseline.
- Add one exclusion that addresses the most obvious mismatch.
- Generate a comparable sample and listen specifically for that trait.
- Keep the exclusion after it helps in repeated tests.
Exclude is a steering control, not a guarantee. A long list can also make the test harder to interpret because several constraints changed together. Begin with the narrowest useful phrase, then add another only when the first result gives you a reason.
Use the positive Style field to describe what should replace the unwanted sound. For example, pair heavy reverb in Exclude with a production phrase such as dry close vocal in your prompt. The Prompt Builder can help place that positive instruction.
Keep a short note beside each test: the excluded phrase, what you expected to hear less of, and what changed in the output. Delete items that have no repeatable effect instead of carrying an old list into every new song.
