How to improve a Suno prompt
Diagnose a weak draft, keep its useful idea, and rewrite it with musical cues that work together.

Diagnose first
Name the problem before you rewrite the prompt
A weak prompt is not always too short. It is often difficult to act on because its words do not have clear jobs. Read the draft once, then classify the problem.
Four common reasons a prompt is hard to improve
A diagnosis gives the edit a boundary. You do not need to rewrite every part of the prompt.
Translate the goal
Turn opinions into audible decisions
Ask what a listener would actually hear if the revision worked. “More emotional” might mean a closer vocal, a restrained verse, a wider chorus, rising strings, or something else. Choose the audible change you mean.
Revision: close, restrained female vocal
Revision: wide layered chorus
Revision: low strings, pulsing percussion, rising tension
Revision: close dry vocal, short room reverb
Build one sound world
Make the cues support the same target
Vocabulary is useful when the words reinforce one another. A genre suggests likely instruments, motion, and production choices—but it is a starting point, not a fixed law.
Three coherent vocabulary sets
Soft sound sources and close delivery support the nocturnal mood.
Instrument register, motion, and mood point in the same direction.
Genre, rhythm, timbre, and arrangement share one energy target.
Use the smallest useful edit
Keep, remove, replace, then test
- Keepthe clearest idea in the draft.
- Removepraise, repetition, or accidental conflict.
- Replacethe weak phrase with one or two audible cues.
